***Bel Air Hills Association Annual Meeting—May 6*** The annual members’ meeting of BAHA is scheduled for Tuesday, May 6, 2025, in the auditorium of the Roscomare Road Elementary School. The meeting will commence promptly at 6:30 pm. Please plan to arrive early for check-in. We hope to have Councilmember for District 5, Katy Yaroslavsky, speak, as well as representatives from LAPD and LAFD. All residents of Bel Air Hills are invited to attend. Official notice of the meeting, along with the names of the members of the new Board for the 2025-2026 year, will go out to members shortly.
***Members Party at AvaKro Restaurant—April 24*** We did this party last June and it got great reviews, so we’re doing it again! Enjoy an evening of great food (and wine), catch up with old friends and make new ones. Full dinner, dessert, soft drinks and coffee, and two glasses of wine are included with your BAHA membership. Grownups only so, if you have little ones, lock in the sitter now! There is a limit of 50 people for this event, so you need to RSVP by April 16th. RSVP to [email protected]. Remember, this is a members’ only event.
***Residential Speed Hump Program*** The Los Angeles Department of Transportation’s (LADOT) Residential Speed Hump Program is being revised. As many of you may know, there was an annual application process whereby residents would submit online requests for speed humps in their neighborhood. LADOT would then select up to 25 possible speed hump installations per city council district. Due to budgetary constraints and equity considerations, this process will no longer be provided. Rather, LADOT will make decisions on where to install speed humps based on predetermined criteria that will include safety and equity. If you would like to read more about the new program see the attached Inter-Departmental Memorandum.

***Crime Update*** In March Newsbites, we discussed a spike in burglaries in our area. We are happy to report that there have been no new incidents in our area in the past two weeks. Also, some more good news: the West LA Division of LAPD was chosen, along with Topanga, for a pilot program for the use of drones that can respond to calls and that can be monitored from the station and be coordinated with officers in vehicles. They expect it to start in the next few months. Overall, other than burglaries, crime is down in the West LA Division.
***BAHA Wildfire Community Meeting Webinar*** BAHA held a Wildfire Community Meeting webinar on March 13th. LAFD Battalion Commander Mario Garcia was unable to make the meeting due to LAFD business, but he sent Battalion Commander Shin Black in his stead, who spoke to us and answered questions for about an hour. We also had representatives from MySafeLA on the panel, and they have a very handy free service where they will visit your home and tell you what you can change to make it more fire resistant. In our March 28th Members Report, we provided a link to a video of the meeting for those members who might have missed the meeting or just wanted to watch it again to catch everything that was said. New members, upon joining BAHA, will receive the link to the video upon request to [email protected].
***MySafe:LA Meeting*** MySafe:LA will be holding a virtual town hall Thursday, April 17th from 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm. Some of the topics to be discussed will include:
- $25,000 in tax credits for hardening your home
- What is happening with Zone 0?
- What steps are being taken to improve the insurance situation in Los Angeles?
