***Virtual Neighborhood Watch*** Last month, BAHA sent out a News Alert regarding an attempted burglary on Roscomare Road. This incident was an example of the crime fighting power of the combination of residents’ street-facing security cameras and BAHA’s Virtual Neighborhood Watch (VNW). BAHA’s VNW is open to all residents with street-facing security cameras, regardless of BAHA membership status. Street-facing cameras can help pinpoint the time of the crime and capture footage of the vehicle the suspects were using. Using the time of the crime and/or footage of the suspect's vehicle, BAHA's advanced capability cameras can then use that information to help LAPD identify that vehicle and the identity of the suspects involved. So, for those residents in the Bel Air Hills area that have street facing cameras, please consider joining BAHA’s Virtual Neighborhood Watch. To learn more about BAHA’s VNW and/or to join the VNW, go to: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSe92gDI2PO21T4V9vnGxnUMCHK3ezkzte1BMkW2bLKaMaY1eg/viewform?embedded=true
***BAHA Member Discount Program *** The BAHA Member Discount Program is a win-win for participating businesses and BAHA members. Membership in the program is available to all residents of Bel Air Hills who have a business and are willing to offer a discount to BAHA members. Businesses who join the BAHA Member Discount Program will be listed, complete with their website and contact info, on our website and in Newsbites multiple times throughout the year. The discount offered to BAHA members must be better than any discount offered to the general public or non-BAHA neighborhood residents and must be available throughout the year (i.e. not a one time only or "Act Now" discount). Interested business owners should email [email protected]. To see the current list of businesses participating in the BAHA Member Discount Program and see where you can save money if you are a BAHA member, or what you are missing if you’re not a member, go to: https://www.baha.la/links-local.php.
***Save the Date*** BAHA is pleased to announce that the annual Fall Festival will be held on Sunday, October 20, from 3:00-5:00 pm. Also, we are planning to hold our annual Winter Lights Festival on Sunday, December 8, from 3:00-5:00 pm. Please mark your calendars and plan to attend these family friendly neighborhood events.
***Community Police Advisory Board*** Our West Los Angeles Community Police Station maintains a Community Police Advisory Board (CPAB). CPAB’s are helpful to community policing as they provide a platform for residents to voice their concerns, collaborate with the police, and contribute to making our neighborhoods safer. Any residents in Bel Air Hills who have interest in participating in the CPAB, should contact our West Los Angeles division at West Los Angeles Community Police Station - LAPD Online. For more information on CPAB’s, go to: C-PAB - LAPD Online.
***Emergency Preparedness*** *** BAHA’s Emergency Preparedness Committee notes that September is Preparedness Month. This is a good time to update and maintain a current list of people in Bel Air Hills with medical training (i.e., nurses, doctors, veterinarians EMT’s, CERT trained, etc.) who would be willing to use their medical training to help injured neighbors in the event of a natural disaster when City medical resources may be overwhelmed. If you are such a person and willing to have your name on the list, please email our Emergency Preparedness Committee at [email protected], and let us know how you would be able to help. Thank you.
Here is another “Save the Date.” Several Los Angeles City Council Districts are sponsoring an emergency preparedness event on Saturday, October 5, from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm. It will be held at the Skirball Center and complimentary breakfast will be provided. The event will cover earthquakes, wildfires and other natural disasters. See the attached for more information and to RSVP.
