***School Opens Monday, August 12--Increased Auto and Pedestrian Traffic Alert!*** Roscomare Road Elementary School is scheduled to reopen for instruction on Monday, August 12. School hours will be between 8:15 a.m. and 2:43 p.m., with students arriving and departing at various times. During those times traffic around the school will be difficult, especially during the first week of school, and possibly the second and third weeks as well. Please be respectful to neighbors by not parking in driveways and red zones. For neighbors living close to the school, taking in your trash bins after they've been picked up could help make traffic move a little easier.
There will be many pedestrians, young children and their adults, walking in the area on school days. Please drive with care to keep our young scholars safe. Thanks to all for your cooperation.

***Sepulveda Pass Metro Project Update*** Metro continues with the Environmental Impact Report and anticipates the Draft EIR release in early 2025. They have officially removed Alternative 2. ***Contacting Police*** Recently, our Councilwoman, Katy Yaroslavsky, reminded her constituents about contacting the police. Some examples:
For non-emergencies, contact the LAPD non-emergency number at 1-877-ASK-LAPD (1-877-275-5273) or visit LAPD’s website. Some examples of non-emergencies are:
For true emergencies, dial 911 immediately. The dispatcher will ask for specific details to send the appropriate assistance as quickly as possible. Be prepared to provide your location, a description of the incident, and any other pertinent information. True emergencies are:
*** Etiquette When Walking Your Dog*** We have been asked to remind our dog walking neighbors to take poop bags on the walk, and use them, so that your neighbors do not have to do the clean-up job for you. This is just a small courtesy to avoid a “messy” situation. Besides, it’s the law!
***Fire Awareness*** We are now well into the hot, dry, fire season. Please be careful to observe the “No Smoking” signs at both entrances to Roscomare Road, and ask your visitors and construction crews coming into the area, to cooperate with that mandate. Also, please check your hillsides to see if they need a second brush clearance because brush clearance compliance is a year-round requirement. The home you save may be your own and a second brush clearing is much less expensive than rebuilding your home after a fire!
