***BAHA’s Annual Membership Drive*** The annual meeting of Bel Air Hills Association members is normally held in May in the auditorium of Roscomare Road Elementary School. But due to changes in LAUSD procedures for using school facilities, BAHA will not be able to hold the annual meeting in May this year. However, we are working with LAUSD to obtain permission to hold the meeting in the school auditorium in late June. Please look for updates on a finalized date. The Annual Meeting is open to all residents, but only members can vote, so be sure to get your membership dues in this month. If you are unsure if you have paid your dues, contact BAHA at [email protected] and we will check for you.

***Sepulveda Transit Corridor Project*** The April Newsbites provided a link to a report Metro had provided to their Board of Directors, which included a summary of the feedback received at the two in-person and one virtual open house meetings held last fall. The report also related that Metro had plans to hold another round of community meetings. The dates of those meetings are now determined. Details from Metro are as follows:

Metro has a plan to make it easier to get around. The natural barrier created by the Santa Monica Mountains makes traveling between the Valley and the Westside complex and challenging – and will require innovation and multiple solutions. Metro is working to evaluate alternatives for a high-quality, reliable transit service option connecting the San Fernando Valley and the Westside.

Please join us for in-person and virtual meetings that will focus on the monorail alternatives and gather feedback about the possible elimination of Alternative 2.

***Virtual Neighborhood Watch*** Help BAHA help LAPD! At LAPD's suggestion, BAHA created a Virtual Neighborhood Watch to help law enforcement investigate and prosecute crimes committed in our neighborhood. Because LAPD does not usually have the manpower to canvas residents to find out if they have useful security camera footage related to the crime that has been committed, BAHA's Virtual Neighborhood Watch program collects the contact information of residents with street facing cameras who are willing to share their footage or contact information with LAPD or BAHA when a crime has been committed in our neighborhood. Street facing cameras can help pin-point the time of the crime, and capture footage of the vehicle the suspects used. Using the time of the crime and/or footage of the suspect's vehicle, BAHA's advanced capability cameras can then be used to provide information to help LAPD identify that particular vehicle and the identity of the suspects involved. If you may be willing to take this important step to help fight crime in our neighborhood, please go to our website at https://www.baha.la/ and click on “Sign Up for Virtual Neighborhood Watch” to learn more and sign up. Tell your neighbors too! Thank you.

***Driving on Roscomare Road*** Driving on Roscomare Road can sometimes seem like driving through an obstacle course. Not long ago, BAHA was able to get the LAPD to monitor stop signs along Roscomare. The feedback we received was that, while LAPD was able to give out quite a few tickets for running stop signs, a large number of those running stop signs were local residents! It’s incumbent upon all of us who live in this beautiful area we call home to set the right example and observe traffic laws. Same goes for speeding—we who live here need to drive at safe and reasonable speeds. We need to be the solution we want.

BAHA’s Traffic Committee would like to invite BAHA members who have good and creative ideas for traffic improvement, and/or are willing to work to get other people’s good ideas implemented, to join the Committee. Please let us know at info@baha.la if you are interested.
