***Senderos (formerly Hoag) Canyon Update*** The Senderos Canyon auction held on March 15, 2023 was not conclusive. Since that time the Save Senderos Canyon group has continued a dialogue with the seller’s representatives with the intent of bringing the 263 acres of untouched natural land, under the protection of the Mountains Recreation and Conservation Authority and away from development in perpetuity. It is hoped that an agreement will be reached soon that will allow this to happen. BAHA will keep you apprised of the progress. To get involved and help save Senderos Canyon, please email [email protected]. Thank you.
***Wildlife Ordinance Update*** The most recent version of the proposed Wildlife Ordinance is dated 1/18/23. The proposed Ordinance is still considered by some residents in our area to be too onerous for already developed hillside areas. More public comments asking for less burdensome provisions might have a positive impact. There is still time for public comments. The following is from Dylan Sittig, Senior Planning Deputy for Councilwoman Katy Yaroslavsky:
“The Council File for the Wildlife Ordinance is 14-0518. The relevant documents and public comments received by the City Clerk are uploaded to the Council File. The linked document titled Attachment to Report dated 1-18-23 - Proposed Wildlife District Ordinance is the current proposed draft.
Public comments should be uploaded to the Council file and please feel free to copy Jarrett [<jarrett.thompson@lacityorg>] and myself [<[email protected]>] on the comments.
The exact hearing date is up to the Committee Chair, but we are still asking for this to be heard in the next month [June].”

***BAHA Bylaws Revision*** The Bylaws governing the operations of BAHA were first adopted in 1952, restated in 1986, and last amended in 1992. The Board directed that the Bylaws be fully restated to both recognize current methods of doing business and to formalize current practices. The Restated Bylaws are effective April 20, 2023, and can be viewed on BAHA’s website at https://www.baha.la/documents.php
