***BAHA’s Annual Membership Drive *** Strong membership numbers enable BAHA to provide more services, support, activities, and to be a louder voice for government services. January and February are the months in which BAHA strives to have all existing members renew their memberships and to encourage all nonmembers to consider joining BAHA. Please look for membership envelopes sent by mail this month, and read the enclosed membership letter. Much more information about BAHA is available on our website at https://www.baha.la/.
***Wildlife Ordinance *** As noted in a recent BAHA News Alert, the proposed Wildlife Ordinance was scheduled to be heard by the Los Angeles City Planning Commission on December 8, 2022. The Planning Commission did hold the hearing and approved the Ordinance. It now goes to the City Council for approval. If the City Council approves, the Ordinance will become law. Therefore, it is important to let City Council members know how the Ordinance, as applied to our fully developed and well-established neighborhood, can potentially have serious detrimental impacts on our properties and property values. A summary of BAHA’s position is set forth in our December Newsbites (see https://www.baha.la/readpost.php?news_id=722). The next issue of Newsbites will have more important information on this matter.
***Sepulveda Transit Corridor Project*** Metro is holding open houses to assist the community in better understanding the proposals being considered for high-speed transit that would connect the San Fernando Valley and the Westside. The open houses will focus on potential station locations and how to access this future transit system. There will be two in-person and one virtual open house. Each presentation will feature the same information and include opportunities for the public to engage and ask questions of Metro staff and the Pre-Development Agreement (PDA) teams. The open houses will be held as follows:

***Trash Containers and Wet Weather*** Now that we are in the midst of the wet weather season, it’s a good time to remind all of our residents that when rain is expected on trash pick-up days, trash containers should be placed at least a foot or so from the curb. This will hopefully prevent trash bins from being toppled and washed away during a heavy downpour. As another reminder, please remember to remove your trash containers from the street by the end of the day in which they have been emptied. Left on the street, they are unsightly, also providing another obstacle to traffic. Thank you.
***Email Addresses are Important*** BAHA communicates with our neighborhood primarily through email. We do this with the monthly Newsbites, and periodically, with BAHA News Alerts. These communications often contain important information for our area, and Newsbites unites our community. So, thank you for sharing your email addresses and please encourage your neighbors, whether or not they are BAHA members, to do the same. Email addresses should be sent to [email protected], together with the street address (for accurate data entry). Thank you.
***Happy New Year*** The Board of Directors of Bel Air Hills Association wishes all members and nonmembers alike in our community, a healthy, happy and prosperous 2023!
