***BAHA Annual Meeting*** The Annual Members’ Meeting of Bel Air Hills Association was held on Tuesday evening, May 24, 2022, from 7:00 PM—8:30 PM in the Roscomare Road Elementary School auditorium. During the business portion of the meeting, BAHA President Robin Greenberg introduced the current Board members. Each gave a short summary of the key matters that they were involved with during the last year. Thereafter, Robin introduced the nominees for the new Board who were not current Board members, and they each gave a brief background. Those nominees were: Steven Borden, Bruce Hofert, Alison MacCracken, and Andrew Paden. There being no nominations from the floor, the slate of proposed directors was declared elected. The following will be BAHA’s Board of Directors for the 2022-2023 fiscal year:
Robin Greenberg introduced BAHA’s guest speakers following the business portion of the meeting. First, Sergeant Allen of the LAPD, BAHA’s Senior Lead Officer from the West Los Angeles Division. Sergeant Allen discussed various safety matters of interest to the community and thereafter took questions. Next, our Councilman, Paul Koretz was introduced. Mr. Koretz presented Certificates of Recognition from the Los Angeles City Council to each of the current Board members. He then took questions and discussed various matters of interest to the community, including the revised draft Wildlife Ordinance and the proposed Sepulveda Pass transportation corridor improvements.
Wendy Morris, past President of BAHA and long-time Board member, receiving a Certificate of Recognition from Councilman Paul Koretz on May 24, 2022, at BAHA’s annual members’ meeting. Wendy has served BAHA and the Bel Air Hills community over many years with valuable and dedicated service for the benefit and improvement of the community. Wendy did not run for re-election to the Board and we are hopeful that she will continue in other capacities to serve our area.
***Virtual Neighborhood Watch*** FBAHA’s Security Committee has set up a virtual neighborhood watch program. The program is intended to assist with relevant camera footage in the investigation of crimes. Please go to our website at https://www.baha.la and click on “Sign Up for Virtual Neighborhood Watch” to learn about the program and determine if you are interested in being a part of it.
***Revised Draft of Wildlife Ordinance*** A revised draft of the Wildlife Ordinance has been issued. The previous draft of the Ridgeline Preservation Ordinance is now included as part of the Wildlife Ordinance, as revised. The Draft Wildlife Ordinance, written by the LA City Planning Committee, contains many provisions that our neighbors living in the Bel Air Hills might want to look into further. Accordingly, it is important for homeowners to inform themselves about this proposed Ordinance and to comment as appropriate. A BAHA News Alert was recently issued and contains extensive information to assist homeowners. If you did not receive the BAHA News Alert you can find it on the website at baha.la.

***Emergency Preparedness Goal of the Month*** BAHA’s Emergency Preparedness Committee’s June goal of the month: This comes from the Los Angeles Times as a follow-up to their earthquake preparedness course, Unshaken, and is a reminder to help readers stay on top of their planning and preparation.
“ Open up your emergency supplies and look at the expiration dates on food, water, batteries and anything else perishable. You should do this about once every six months (especially for water you bottled yourself).
If a date is close or recently past, packaged food is usually safe to eat. Just make sure it passes the sight and smell tests. Avoid foods from deeply dented cans. You can also donate unexpired food to local food pantries.
Water should only be kept to its ‘use by’ date when in factory-sealed bottles, or up to six months in storage containers.”
