***Save the Date/BAHA Annual Meeting *** The Annual Members’ Meeting of Bel Air Hills Association will be held on Tuesday evening, May 24, 2022, at 7:00 PM in the Roscomare Road Elementary School auditorium. Doors will open at 6:30 pm. We hope that all members will attend. Nonmembers are also welcome and may wish to join BAHA at that time. As usual we will be inviting our Councilman, the LAPD and LAFD. Formal notice will go out in May. If you are interested in learning more about BAHA, or if you would like to join BAHA now, please go to our website at https://www.baha.la.
***Brush Clearance Notices*** Recently, the LAFD sent notices to all addresses in our area reminding residents of the annual brush clearance requirements. Needless to say, brush clearance in the Bel Air Hills is essential as this area is designated as Very High Fire Hazard Severity Zone. The notice reminds property owners that a $33 inspection fee will be assessed for the LAFD’s inspection of your property’s compliance. Property owners may avoid the fee if, by May 1, they make sure that their property complies with the brush clearance rules as set forth in the notice. For a complete list of LAFD brush clearance requirements, visit https://www.lafd.org/fire-prevention/brush.
***BAHA’s Membership Zone*** Recently, some residents in the BAHA membership zone received notices from the Bel Air Association (BAA) inviting them to become a member of BAA. According to BAA, this occurred due to a glitch in their computer system. However, this incident provides an opportunity for BAHA to describe its membership zone and its clear distinction from BAA. Basically, BAHA represents and serves all of Roscomare Road, all of the streets branching off of Roscomare Road (for Stradella Road, down to 1900), the Antelo homes (southside off Mulholland Drive), and a few homes along Mulholland Drive. These homes constitute the Bel Air Hills and BAHA represents and serves the interests of the homeowners in these locations. On the other hand, BAA represents and serves the interests of the Bel Air Estates which are at the southern end of the Bel Air Hills area.
***BAHA’s Loyal Members*** BAHA welcomes and needs all new and returning members. BAHA also wants to recognize those of you who have been, and continue to be, loyal members of BAHA by consistently renewing your membership year after year. You know who you are and the Board of Directors of BAHA wants to say “thank you” and to let you know that your support is greatly appreciated.
***Emergency Preparedness Goal of the Month*** BAHA’s Emergency Preparedness Committee’s April preparedness goal of the month: Always keep a 3-5 day supply of cans of non-perishable food (with hand operated can opener). Also, keep your medications (for the whole family as well as for your pets) up to date so that you always have an adequate supply on hand.
***The Park Bench at Roscomare Park is back!*** Beautifully refreshed, this park bench has a wonderful story. The bench was donated to the park by Joe Convery who was a local real estate agent and nephew of Charlie and Philomena McAndrew. Unfortunately, Joe passed away at age 52 from a brain aneurism. Joe wanted the bench placed in the park so that people could have a place to relax, to take a load off. Thanks Joe, rest in peace.
***Party House Handbook Available*** Are loud party noises from nearby rental estates keeping you up at night? You are not alone. There are solutions to some problems and limits to the law. Your Neighborhood Council has prepared a Party House Handbook to guide you through the problems we all face and suggest possible solutions. You can download the handbook here.
