DWP Power Upgrade Project

The Los Angeles Department of Water & Power has announced a power upgrade project for Bel Air, Beverly Crest, Westwood and Holmby Hills. DWP indicates that this work will improve the reliability of power for these areas. New underground circuits will be installed beginning this summer on Sunset Blvd. between the 405 Freeway and Bellagio Rd. The initial plan was to begin mid-June but concerns presented by BAHA and others have delayed the project a few weeks while the city looks into a plan for reacting to any emergencies and related evacuations that may occur during the upgrade project. LADWP estimates this work will be done by May, 2020. At that point they will begin construction of underground circuits on portions of Bellagio Rd., Bellagio Pl., Bel Air Rd. and Beverly Glen Blvd. A portion of Bellagio Rd. will be limited to local access only and detour signs will be posted. Of course, this will impact traffic and will affect all of us living in Bel Air Hills.
