Many of you have complained both to us and on Nextdoor regarding the “Prison Fencing” recently erected by the Bel Air Country Club (“BACC”) around its perimeter. The opaque black tarp covered fence and barbed wire makes the drive in and out of Bel Air along Bellagio unsightly and has many worried that it could lower our property values. BAHA’s Board conveyed the neighborhood’s strong concerns tp BACC’s CEO and General Manager, Adam Fannon, and we are working together to find a solution that satisfies both the club and its neighbors.
Currently, BACC is installing a wall of hedges in front of the fence in certain areas, which represents a definite aesthetic improvement. However, BAHA has requested that BACC remove the opaque black tarp along the higher end of Bellagio and use loose, varied plantings along the perimeter in that area rather than erect a wall of hedges so that we do not feel like as though we are driving through a tunnel with the mountain against one side of the road and a hedge wall along the other without the view we all have enjoyed for many years. Since this area of the fencing is much higher than the golf course, it is not a high priority privacy area for members Our solution would be more cost-effective than keeping the tarp up and installing a green hedge wall. BACC’s Board will meet shortly to consider our proposal and we will keep you updated on the progress of our discussions.
