The West Los Angeles area Police Department periodically sends out an E-Police Newsletter. The most recent one warned of the so-called “knock knock” burglaries, where the suspects will target a home and ring the doorbell to determine if anyone is at home. If not, they will typically force entry through the side or rear yard. They suggest web based surveillance and doorbell camera systems (i.e. the Ring), alarms, alarm response, motion sensor lighting, locked and secured gates, doors and windows locked with sturdy secured locks and second locking mechanisms, as some of the ways to secure your home. If you would like to subscribe to the E-Police Newsletter, go to http://www.lapdonline.org/e_policing.
