BAHA

January Newsbites 2024!

Posted on 01/05/24

***Welcome to 2024*** The Board of Directors of Bel Air Hills Association wishes all our members and the entire community, a happy, healthy and prosperous 2024!

***BAHA’s Annual Membership Drive*** Strong membership numbers enable BAHA to provide more services, support, activities, and to be a louder voice for government services. January and February are the months in which BAHA strives to have all existing members renew their memberships and to encourage all nonmembers to consider joining BAHA. This year, in addition to our usual mailed letter and membership form, we will also be sending out emails that will make it easy to join or renew with just a few clicks, and even sign up for automatic membership renewals directly from the email. Many members find the automatic renewal option to be best - it helps you simplify your life, save trees, and helps BAHA save money on membership mailers.

PLUS everyone who signs up for Automatic BAHA Membership Renewals by January 31st will be entered to win their choice of:

                                                                 A bottle of wine
                                                                             Or

                                                         A box of gourmet cookies
                                                                             Or

A $50 donation to the charity of their choice

Please keep an eye out in your email inbox and your regular mailbox for our annual letter and membership form. Our membership letter contains much information on what BAHA does for our neighborhood. Much more information about BAHA is available on our website at https://www.baha.la/. Please check it out. We hope that you will see how important it is to support BAHA and our neighborhood with your membership!

***BAHA At Work—Package Misdelivery*** Two days before Christmas, one of BAHA’s members was expecting an important package delivery containing a greatly valued personal item which was to be given as a holiday present. Unfortunately, the package was delivered to the wrong address in Bel Air Hills. Fortunately, the signature of the person who had signed for the package was legible. Our member contacted a BAHA Board member and BAHA was able to locate the address of the signatory. Another Board member, who lives near that address, visited the accidental recipient, and explained the situation. As a result, the BAHA member was reunited with their package that day - in time to give it as a present. Clearly, BAHA brings our community together in many interesting and unexpected ways!

***Roscomare Road Elementary School (RRES) *** Please remember that classes at RRES will resume after Winter Break on Monday, January 8. Expect heavier traffic during morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up times. Please be careful while driving near the school and look out for parent and children pedestrians. Thank you.

***Westwood Water Main Project *** Since many residents in Bel Air Hills travel into Westwood on a regular basis, we want to share with you a recent notice from the Department of Water and Power:

Please note that LADWP will begin construction on the Gayley Ave and Le Conte Ave Mainline Replacement Project in mid-January 2024. We are replacing a water mainline that was installed in the 1920s with earthquake resistant ductile iron pipe, which improves reliability and resilience.

Attached is the fact sheet which includes a map of the construction area. Street parking will be restricted during work hours and traffic control measures will be implemented to mitigate traffic impacts. Construction is split into two phases: Phase 1 is on Gayley and Phase 2 is on Le Conte. Note that Phase 2 construction will be conducted AT NIGHT from 9:00PM to 5:00PM.[am]

Please share the fact sheet with your community and if you have any questions, don’t hesitate to reach out. Thank you.
