***Sepulveda Corridor Transit Project*** As many of you might be aware, Metro has developed alternative plans for high speed transportation from the San Fernando Valley to the Westside of Los Angeles, ultimately ending up at LAX. They are currently beginning the environmental review phase and, as part of that process, Metro is holding a formal public comment period from November 30, 2021, through February 11, 2022. The public is encouraged to submit thoughts and comments about the alternatives, as well as to identify issues that may need to be addressed in the environmental review. Metro is offering three virtual scoping meetings to provide information and to accept public feedback. The meetings are scheduled as follows, and to register, click on the desired date:

***Package Thefts*** Over past years, BAHA Newsbites has reminded residents to be mindful of package thefts that have occurred in our area. Package thefts are a growing problem due to so much more online shopping, and even more so during the holiday shopping season. You can reduce your chances of being a victim of a package thief, and make our neighborhood less attractive to thieves, by bringing your package inside promptly and considering some of the following options: 1) having packages delivered to your work address, if possible, or 2) establishing a mailbox at the Mail Room at 2337 Roscomare Road so that your packages can be delivered there, ask Steve for your BAHA member discount! or 3) Amazon, UPS and FedEx all have programs that let you choose a delivery date, and track your package – take advantage of them to have your packages delivered when your know you will be home.

***Report All Crimes*** Our Security Committee wants our members to be aware of the following: If you are the victim of a crime, even a package theft or an attempted car break-in, take these three steps:
1) File a police report with LAPD (online at https://www.lapdonline.org/file-a-police-report/, or by phone at 310-444-0702). According to our LAPD Liaison, this will allow LAPD to gauge the actual extent of the problem in our area and devote greater resources if needed.
2) In addition to checking your own security cameras, ask your neighbors if their cameras caught anything useful, and get a copy of any footage (the police are understaffed, and they do not have the resources to do this for you).
3) If you know when the crime occurred and/or have video or a description of the suspect’s vehicle, contact BAHA right away with the police report number so that we can check our camera footage and get in contact with our liaison at LAPD.

***Earthquake Preparedness*** BAHA’s Emergency Preparedness Committee would like to make our members and residents aware of important information relating to earthquake preparedness. The Los Angeles Times offers a six-week course (via emails) to prepare for an earthquake. The course deals with assembling earthquake kits, assessing homes for dangers, how to correct for such dangers, assessing earthquake insurance, household communications, etc. To get more information on this course and to sign up for the emails, go to https://www.latimes.com/newsletters/sign-up-for-unshaken-and-get-earthquake-ready-in-six-weeks?utm_id=31618&sfmc_id=1711551.

***Update on Airplane Noise and Pollution*** The FAA requested a one-month delay until the final briefings in the SOSLA lawsuit against them for the changes in flight paths that now plague this entire mountain. It will now be January 10th or soon thereafter, pending any further changes. Please consider donating to help us all survive. Go to: SOSLA.org

***Holiday Season's Greetings*** The Board of Directors of Bel-Air Hills Association wishes all of our members and all of our community, a wonderful, safe and joyous holiday season, and a healthy and prosperous 2022!
